Anuradhapura
128 miles from Colombo is Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka’s first capital founded about the 4th century BC. The pre-Christian capital is a stately metropolis of striking monuments, parks, and irrigation lakes. The 1st-century BC Abayagiri and 3rd-century Jetawana (dome-shaped Buddhist relic shrines, a UNESCO world heritage site) are classed after monuments. The 2,200 years old sacred Bo thee, the royal twin baths, and the Isurumuniya lovers are some of many Anuradapura wonders.
Mihinthale –
Mihintale is a mountain peak near Anuradhapura in Sri Lanka. It is believed by Sri Lankans to be the site of a meeting between the Buddhist monk Mahinda and King Devanampiyatissa which inaugurated the presence of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. It is now a pilgrimage site, and the site of several religious monuments and abandoned structures.

Sigiriya
Sigiriya is home to the 5th century “Fortress in the sky” which is perhaps the most fantastic signal wonder of the island. It is also known as lion rocks because of the huge lion that used to stand at the entrance to the fortress. within its triple-moated defense, the huge rock rises to a sheer height of 500ft. On its summit are the foundations of what was once a great and sumptuous palace and gardens complete with a swimming pool. On one of the stairways, the only known ancient work of the Sinhala secular painting survived in the form of Frescoes of life sized damsels in all the freshness and delicacy of their original color.
4th Day
Sigiriya to Kandy

Dambulla
Dambulla is famous for the five caves Temple on a rock. The first 03 caves are better, older, and larger than the other two. Some caves date to 1st C.B.C. All the 5 cave walls and ceilings are covered with Buddhist murals and there are more than 130 Buddha statues, statues of gods and kings are also found here.
Kandy
The hill capital, the venue of the annual Perahara. The last stronghold of the Sinhala king was finally ceded to the British in 1815. Kandy is an example of Buddhism’s influence in Sri Lanka today. Temple’s shrines and monasteries keeping alive Buddhist traditions are everywhere.

Temple of the Tooth Relic
Sri Dalada Maligawa or the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is a Buddhist temple in the city of Kandy, Sri Lanka. It is located in the royal palace complex of the former Kingdom of Kandy, which
houses the relic of the tooth of the Buddha. Since ancient times, the relic has played an important role in local politics because it is believed that whoever holds the relic holds the governance of the country. Kandy was the last capital of the Sri Lankan kings and is a World Heritage Site mainly due to the temple.

All around Nuwara Eliya, You will see evidence of the British influence. Houses are like country cottages or Queen style mansions.
